Japanese Influence on Streetwear Fashion
Japanese Influence on Streetwear Fashion
Streetwear was adopted as a casual wear mostly by surf and skate teenagers in the US in the early 90s. But several sways and inspirations changed the streetwear look considerably in the later years of its development. One of the major influences in the way streetwear clothing looks now is how the Japanese fashion designers reinvented streetwear apparels.
The Japanese designers took sreerwear clothes to a loftier level, by adding the persuasions of pop culture such as anime, games, and toys and linked it with the streetwear fashion. They replaced the surf/punk attributes of streetwear with the Japanese obsession for everything manga and anime. Not very long, the American and European designers followed the Japanese lead. Stussy, the king of surf design, even went to Japan study the new look in streetwear and even corroborated with Japanese designers to manufacture this new wave of streetwear clothing. Soon other streetwear designers and manufacturers followed suit.
This corroboration led to a new look in streetwear that is more hip-hop and punk mixed with the riotous manga and anime caricatures found in Japanese streetclothes. This merger resulted in a streetwear look that has a more universal and global appeal. The corroboration and partnership with the Japanese designers of Western designers to create streetwear that is becoming more and more a cross between two cultures continue up to this time. Proof of this is the contract between Stussy and Applebum, a Japanese streetwear clothing brand to come up with a new line of T-shirt designs that will carry Stussy’s famous graphic and Applebum’s artistic style.
Even Adidas joined the fray, with Kazuki Kuraishi, its rockstar Creative Director bringing in his own panache and style to creations such as Neigborhood and A Bathing Ape brands. Expect this Japanese and American clothing companies’ partnership to continue in the next several years more as the cross-cultural persuasion persists.

2011 Fashion Tips, What to Wear and Not to Wear with Leggings
Leggings have become a young girl’s fashion staple and definitely here to stay. They are extremely comfortable and a very versatile clothing item. They are paired with shorts for that edgy modern look or paired with skirts and dresses for a more traditional look. It could even be used to create an 80s retro look when worn with a long straight shirt.

Fashion gurus are of one mind in suggesting that leggings be treated like tights not as an alternative to pants. They should never be worn with short tops since leggings are very form fitting and define the rump very explicitly. They are best paired with long baby doll tops, drop-waist dresses, shirt dresses, tunic tops, and empire waist dresses. Long straight shirts also look great paired with leggings. Leggings and skirts are a fantastic duo especially for girls who are shy of showing off their legs. It goes well with all skirt length from a mini to a mix and in between. For sun dresses and other billowy dresses, if it is too flirty or too light then better go bare legged.

Leggings are best worn with ballet flats or any flat shoes that do not require socks such as a low-heeled boots, boat shoes, Mary Janes, flat sandals, skimmers, moccasins and other athletic shoes. Combining it with stiletto heels will give a retro 80s look for those who desire the vintage vibe.
Most desired leggings for this season are the Capri length leggings that stop at mid-calf or just below the knee. But ankle length is great too, while stirrup style or full-footed leggings are out.
Young girls are partial to unicolor leggings with neutral colors such as grey, black, beige, brown and white. Sheer leggings, leggings in glittery fabric, lace trimmed leggings are very stylish and preferred by trendy young girls. Photos Copyright of PR PHOTOS
What Should a Male Guest Wear to a Wedding
What Should a Male Guest Wear to a Wedding
Choosing what to wear as a guest in a wedding is something that requires some deliberation for most guys. The season, the time of day and the type of wedding dictate the kind of attire that guests should wear in a wedding. The rule of thumb swings from a not too formal outfit where you might out-dress the groom and the male members of the wedding party or too casual that it may seem like you do not give much importance to the wedded couple. It should be something in between, depending on where, when and what type of wedding it is.
Here are some helpful tips to guide you:
Evening wedding
For a formal evening wedding, a black suit is de rigueur whether it is a summer or a winter wedding, and better yet a tuxedo, as long as it is held after 5:00 pm. In summer a black or dark colored suit in a lighter fabric is recommended. If it is says in the invitation “casual or semi-formal” a blazer, slacks and tie with a more stylish dress shirt than what you normally wear for the office is appropriate.
Morning weddings
A morning wedding is usually less formal than an evening wedding. If it is held in summer, black and other dark colors are out. So are wool and other thick and heavy fabrics normally worn in winter. Opt for a light colored suit in lighter materials such as cotton, seersucker or wrinkle –free linen. A sports coat or blazer worn with a nice dress shirt and dress pants are also suitable. For a winter morning wedding dark wool and other heavy materials for a suit is appropriate so is a cashmere v-neck sweater worn with dress pants and a shirt and tie underneath.
What to avoid:
• Cargo pants or jeans or any pants that are too casual
• Informal footwear such as sandals
• Wrinkled clothes and dirty shoes
• Bold prints and colors

Urban Styles – What is Emo?
Urban Styles – What is Emo?
Emo is now considered a fashion trend. But it didn’t start that way—not by any means. What people may not realize is that emo started as a musical movement in the 80s. Think about the eighties. The first thing you think of is big hair bands and AC/DC. Emo music was pretty much the opposite. Big hair band music wasn’t exactly expressive. It was mainly about having fun, partying, chicks, and playing more music.
However, emo music was more…confessional. This new genre was where artists really started to express their feelings as far as music went. It blends punk elements and indie rock to create something new and different.
Modern day emo music is a lot different and a lot of “emo” bands are actually going more mainstream while the bands that are more mainstream seem to be adding emo elements to their lyrics and music.
However, about the mid-2000s, emo started to take a turn. It became a fashion trend. In many ways, it has completely changed.
In the mid-2000s, it wasn’t cool to be emo. As a matter of fact, emos were subject to bullying, cyberbullying, and other demeaning practices.
Nowadays, emo has gotten popular. Ironically, to be emo is now somewhat cool. This is kind of weird considering how unpopular it was. However, there are still emos who are picked on.
The main purpose of being “truly emo” is to be willing to express yourself. However, most people consider this to mean that all emos are depressed and sad and are killjoys. But—since emo is about expressing yourself, couldn’t a happy person easily be emo?

The Hottest Spring and Summer Styles for Girls
The Hottest Spring and Summer Styles for Girls
There are just too many flattering and attractive spring & summer style this year that choosing one will be a little difficult for the young girls out there. To give you an idea of what are the selections open to you , here is a list of some of what to expect :
Urban Fashion Styles for 2011

Full Skirt
Full skirts are hot this spring and summer. These full skirts that were very popular in the 70’s have made a comeback this 2011 and they are hot items this spring and summer. It is a very lady like and practical outfit and a pleasant departure from the micro-mini that leaves almost nothing to the imagination. This is a skirt style that will look good on almost everybody; it will hide heavy thighs and legs and will give a skinny form some curves. A full-skirt worn below the knee or even a little lower should be worn with a heeled or wedged shoes rather than flats so as to give an impression of longer legs since this type of hemline has a tendency to cut your legs off.
Slinky Dress
The sleek and slinky short dress of the 70’s era is also back on the fashion scene. This is a very girly dress and a no-fuss outfit. This is also a great party dress that is best in satin or some slinky material in bright colors with some embellishments such as beads and sequins.. For a lovely summer outfit, a one shoulder slinkerela dress in block prints will be a winner.
Denim
Denims will never go out of style – denim shorts, denim dress, tiered, bubble, gymboree or gored denim skirts, denim jumpers, satin denim party dress, skinny denim jeans, everything in denims will look good this summer. It can even be embroided to add color and flair to your denim outfit.
Floral Prints
Colorful flower prints dictate this summer’s fashion trend as evident in most fashion collections of the world’s best designers. Gaily colored floral dresses are playful but sexy and very feminine. Dresses, tops, and skirts in fruity colored flower prints augur well for a hot juicy summer.
Flared or Wide Leg Pants
This summer flared or wide leg pants are hot together with the boot and skinny cut. The wide leg pants were the “In” thing in generations past but are given a new flare for a modern look. High – wasted fluid wide leg pants are your best choice this summer.

Fashion Rules for Men, How to Break Them
Fashion Rules for Men, How to Break Them
Somebody said that rules are made to be broken. There have been many rules that play with man’s fashion. Even though these are not necessarily hard and fast rules to live by, stylists and experts alike would tell you that there are those that you really have to follow and there are those that are fashion faux pas.
But then again, if you look at the bigger picture, there are men out there who have become fashion victims by choice. Why you wonder? These groups of men just have all the guts in the world to wear something outrageous. Most do not go undetected under the scrutiny of fashion hawks. But there are those who get away with it. You might wonder why. Here is a list of a few of those styles that allowed men to be fashion rebels rather than fashion victims.
They say that your pants should cover the ankles. This is the rule. Deal with it. But you know what, you can get away with it. You can always say that this rule applies if you are attending some formal affair. Otherwise, be free and roll up those jeans. Just limit the folding to a maximum of one and a half inch. Add a pop of color by wearing bright socks. Too much would mean there was flood.
Another rule is to match the shoes and the belt. People who have made this rule may have been color-blind. It is not about matching after all. It is how well the colors blend with each other. Coordination so to speak is the key. For example there is nothing wrong with brown shoes matched with rich red suede belt. Of course the neutral belt and your rich brown shoes won’t just marry each other. So there are those that they seem to be matched made in heaven and there are those that just cannot be together.
How to Mix Neutrals with Colors: Navy and Grey
How to Mix Neutrals with Colors: Navy and Grey
Colors play an important part in any wardrobe. Some people want the whole nine yards by being clothed in bright colors from head to toe. Some want to wear the darkest hues as well. For men who prefer the road much taken, they know that there should be a mixture of light and dark colors to achieve balance in thing. There are three colors that can be considered as neutrals: black, navy and grey.
Color Matching Tips 2011

Since black has already been discussed, let’s begin with the last part: navy and grey. The color navy has the best partner in the world: Brown. This color is the perfect complement! The color blue is perfectly brought out when matched with brown and the brown color is accentuated by the neutrality of the navy blue color.
One way to make the distinction is to mix brown color with blue slacks or jeans. Don’t you think brown shoes would not make you blue navy suit look good? Think again. Your necktie can also sport this color combination as well.
Yellow may also look good with brown. Blue and yellow are complimentary. Easily said. No questions asked. It may be a preppy way to start with but try mixing yellow shirts with brown jacket and you’ll soon love the combination.
Red is another color that your can pair the brown color with. You would probably look like a president when you pair it white and red. No wonder people would look up to them. The national colors in all its glory just don’t go over the top. Put one of the colors in minimal.
Grey is another color that you would be happy about. There is nothing that cannot be worn with this color. If you want a darker shade, you can pair it with greens and purples. For the lighter shades, blue, pink and yellow are its best compliments.
