Japanese Influence on Streetwear Fashion

Streetwear was adopted as a casual wear mostly by surf and skate teenagers in the US in the early 90s. But several sways and inspirations changed the streetwear look considerably in the later years of its development. One of the major influences in the way streetwear clothing looks now is how the Japanese fashion designers reinvented streetwear apparels.

The Japanese designers took sreerwear clothes to a loftier level, by adding the persuasions of pop culture such as anime, games, and toys and linked it with the streetwear fashion. They replaced the surf/punk attributes of streetwear with the Japanese obsession for everything manga and anime. Not very long, the American and European designers followed the Japanese lead. Stussy, the king of surf design, even went to Japan study the new look in streetwear and even corroborated with Japanese designers to manufacture this new wave of streetwear clothing. Soon other streetwear designers and manufacturers followed suit.

This corroboration led to a new look in streetwear that is more hip-hop and punk mixed with the riotous manga and anime caricatures found in Japanese streetclothes. This merger resulted in a streetwear look that has a more universal and global appeal. The corroboration and partnership with the Japanese designers of Western designers to create streetwear that is becoming more and more a cross between two cultures continue up to this time. Proof of this is the contract between Stussy and Applebum, a Japanese streetwear clothing brand to come up with a new line of T-shirt designs that will carry Stussy’s famous graphic and Applebum’s artistic style.

Even Adidas joined the fray, with Kazuki Kuraishi, its rockstar Creative Director bringing in his own panache and style to creations such as Neigborhood and A Bathing Ape brands. Expect this Japanese and American clothing companies’ partnership to continue in the next several years more as the cross-cultural persuasion persists.

2011 Fashion Tips, What to Wear and Not to Wear with Leggings

Leggings have become a young girl’s fashion staple and definitely here to stay. They are extremely comfortable and a very versatile clothing item. They are paired with shorts for that edgy modern look or paired with skirts and dresses for a more traditional look. It could even be used to create an 80s retro look when worn with a long straight shirt.

Sofia Vergara Leggings Fashion Style

Fashion gurus are of one mind in suggesting that leggings be treated like tights not as an alternative to pants. They should never be worn with short tops since leggings are very form fitting and define the rump very explicitly. They are best paired with long baby doll tops, drop-waist dresses, shirt dresses, tunic tops, and empire waist dresses. Long straight shirts also look great paired with leggings. Leggings and skirts are a fantastic duo especially for girls who are shy of showing off their legs. It goes well with all skirt length from a mini to a mix and in between. For sun dresses and other billowy dresses, if it is too flirty or too light then better go bare legged.

Irina Shayk Leggings Fashion Style

Leggings are best worn with ballet flats or any flat shoes that do not require socks such as a low-heeled boots, boat shoes, Mary Janes, flat sandals, skimmers, moccasins and other athletic shoes. Combining it with stiletto heels will give a retro 80s look for those who desire the vintage vibe.
Most desired leggings for this season are the Capri length leggings that stop at mid-calf or just below the knee. But ankle length is great too, while stirrup style or full-footed leggings are out.

Young girls are partial to unicolor leggings with neutral colors such as grey, black, beige, brown and white. Sheer leggings, leggings in glittery fabric, lace trimmed leggings are very stylish and preferred by trendy young girls. Photos Copyright of PR PHOTOS

Little Black Dress for Different Body Shapes

The little black dress or LBD is a must-have for any woman. They are always fashionable and in style and are classic, timeless, seasonless and is a great party dress for all times. It epitomizes simple chic and could be dress up or down with the right accessory. In choosing a little black dress, always make sure that it suits your body shape. To help you in your choice here are some suggestion of what to look for in an LBD for several body shapes:

Sienna Miller in a little black dress

Bottom heavy figure
The simplest way to balance a bottom heavy figure is to opt for an LBD with a fuller skirt that glides over the lower half of the body. When cinched at the waist with a strapless or fitted halter, it accentuates the trim upper half of the body and is a fantastic way to camouflage heavy hips,

Plus size
The LBD for a plus size lady is simple with very little embellishment that can be dressed up with the right accessory such as a striking necklace. A wrap dress in a non-clingy fabric is the perfect little black dress for plus size apple –shaped ladies.

Petite
The ideal little black dress for a petite frame is one that lengthens the figure such as a fitted strapless sheath dress or a wraparound dress, both give an elongated silhouette. Sleeveless and halter neck styles that reach just above the knee provide enough cover while generating a longer outline. To complete the look make sure that it is paired with heels never flat shoes.

Wide shoulders
If you have wide shoulders keep away from capacious tops or puff sleeves with a fitted skirt, this style will emphasize the width of your shoulders. Go for LBDs with balancing features such as a the one-shoulder top that is cinched at the waist for that perfect hour-glass figure or skims down the hips for a sexy and alluring look.

Skinny slim
If you’re too thin a little black dress that creates some volume is your best option but don’t go overboard with the ruffles, layers and puff sleeves, these may give you a little girl look that is not exactly what you want. A crossover dress with ruffled deep v-neckline with a three quarter sleeve and full skirt will add volume to your upper half at the same time give you a fuller figure than what you actually have. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS

The bubble skirt is one very controversial fashion style that has people taking sides for and against, without any middle ground. You either like it or you don’t. A bubble skirt is a voluminous skirt that bears a resemblance to a balloon, flirtier and fuller than a straight skirt. But the bubble skirt is flattering to the right body shape and punishing to a wrong body shape. This fashion style is great for skinny girls or for women with a boyish figure but awful for anyone with even an extra inch on their hips. For girls who have the kind of figure that could carry off a bubble skirt, they should wear it more often. It is a very feminine, flirty and trendy outfit and it accentuates the legs so if you have lovely legs then show them off.

A bubble dress should be worn with a clinched and a tighter or fitted top. A bubble skirt should be worn also with a fitted or tight top such as a tube. The tight waist with the poof skirt will give a slim body a sexier silhouette. When worn with high heels a short bubble skirt will show off great legs at its best advantage. The best length for a bubble skirt is either above the knee or below the knee for it to fall and flow perfectly. If you have knobby knees to hide, then opt for a bubble skirt just below the knee.

Bubble dress is also a great design or style for a cocktail or evening dress in fact it is a great design for a dress for any occasion. A short strapless bubble cocktail dress that fits at the top and is clinched at the waist is ultra feminine and sexy. Long bubble evening dress is ooh! so elegant, glamorous and sexy!!!!

What Should a Male Guest Wear to a Wedding

Choosing what to wear as a guest in a wedding is something that requires some deliberation for most guys. The season, the time of day and the type of wedding dictate the kind of attire that guests should wear in a wedding. The rule of thumb swings from a not too formal outfit where you might out-dress the groom and the male members of the wedding party or too casual that it may seem like you do not give much importance to the wedded couple. It should be something in between, depending on where, when and what type of wedding it is.
Here are some helpful tips to guide you:

Evening wedding
For a formal evening wedding, a black suit is de rigueur whether it is a summer or a winter wedding, and better yet a tuxedo, as long as it is held after 5:00 pm. In summer a black or dark colored suit in a lighter fabric is recommended. If it is says in the invitation “casual or semi-formal” a blazer, slacks and tie with a more stylish dress shirt than what you normally wear for the office is appropriate.

Morning weddings
A morning wedding is usually less formal than an evening wedding. If it is held in summer, black and other dark colors are out. So are wool and other thick and heavy fabrics normally worn in winter. Opt for a light colored suit in lighter materials such as cotton, seersucker or wrinkle –free linen. A sports coat or blazer worn with a nice dress shirt and dress pants are also suitable. For a winter morning wedding dark wool and other heavy materials for a suit is appropriate so is a cashmere v-neck sweater worn with dress pants and a shirt and tie underneath.

What to avoid:
•	Cargo pants or jeans or any pants that are too casual
•	Informal footwear such as sandals
•	Wrinkled clothes and dirty shoes
•	Bold prints and colors

Emo Fashion Styles for Girls 2011

Emo fashion is for emo girls who do not conform to the trendy girl fashion usually set by celebrities and famous fashion icons. Emo girls listen to their own emo type of music, dance to their own tune and dress in a most unconventional manner that in a way also calls attention. Their own brand of fashion is an expression of their own personal taste and emotional state and they don’t care what other people think of it. But in a way, there is still some commonality in the way emo girls dress, thus the emo fashion. Here are some examples of garments that constitute emo fashion:

Layered look
Emo girls are partial to the layered look in clothing. They could be seen with a long sleeved undershirt topped by another shirt with short sleeves. Colors run from white to grey to black and either in solid color or a band t-shirt, meaning a t-shirt with an emo band’s image embossed on the shirt. The more clothes there are the more emo the look.

Emo hoodies
Hoodies are an essential item in an emo girl’s wardrobe and we’re not talking one hoodie here, in fact it has to be a collection of hoodies. Band hoodies, hoodies with skull, stars and other bizarre designs, emo-accepted clothing brand hoodies, even plain hoodies are tolerable, as long as it won’t make them look like a sorority girl. For summer, there are short sleeved hoodies.

Jeans and skirts
Tight skinny jeans are another emo fashion staple and so are short skirts.

Scarves
Scarves are an emo girl’s very own fashion statement. Long, thin, simple crocheted or knitted scarves are worn by emo girls all seasons of the year. Scarves in solid colors, stripes or plaid are up to standard.

Shoes and socks
Emo girl fashion decrees that shoes are flat and simple although buckle shoes are acceptable. Knee socks with patterns, fishnet sworn with skirts, thigh highs and striped thighrts or stocking are all emo fashion standards.

The Versatile Men’s Sports Coat, For Trendy Look in 2011

Even if the company where you belong do not require a formal suit as a dress code it is still important to look good and elegant. You will be judged not only by your office mates and management but also by your company’s clients on the basis of your personal appearance or how you present yourself. A good alternative to a formal suit is the casual and versatile sports coat for an elegant and respectable look inside or outside the office, for a business lunch or a business meeting.

Because of a sports coat’s fashionable and sensible flexibility, it has become a favored outfit for men whose occupation brings them from the office to a conference room or factory floor or loading dock. A sports coat is an acceptable wear anywhere, in the classroom, in a board room, in an elegant dining venue and even in a construction site.

The sports coat is a comfortable and yet aesthetically pleasing garment. In the Us where comfort reigns supreme in the choice of an outfit and yet requires to look good even in a sports scene, a sports coat will look better than a sweat shirt. Sports coat is a perfect weekend garment because of its easy going and comfortable attribute. You don’t even need a big collection of sports coat to fit every occasion, one carefully chose sports coat paired off beautifully with the right shirt and accessories will see you through a whole gamut of situations and occasions.

For men who are always on the go, the sports coat can virtually be a bat –belt that can hold pens, phone, keys, cigarettes, PDA, papers, wallet and loose chains. A standard sports coat usually comes with two inside pockets and a lot may have an additional pocket for pens and loose cash. If you are a man who needs more pockets for items such as an iPod, a badge, cigars and other accoutrements some men carry, then you can have a sports coat custom made to feature pockets of your own design. The versatility of a sports coat makes it the active man’s uniform that assures the twenty first male a snappish and gorgeous look anywhere he goes.

Women have worn makeup since time immemorial to make them attractive and beautiful. That is the reason why makeup is a multi- million dollar industry all over the world. But there are rules in applying makeup to ensure that you look as fabulous as you desire. The wrong type of makeup and the incorrect way of applying it might create the opposite effect. One important element of a woman’s makeup is lip color, lipstick, lip gloss and lip stain. Here are some simple suggestions on how to apply lip color that will make you look fabulous:

Gisele Bündchen Makeup Look

- Choose a lipstick, lip gloss or lip stain in the shade or color that is right for you. You can find out if it is the right color or shade for you by swiping it at the back of the hand or better yet at the tip of a finger, since the color of the tip of your finger approximates the color of your lips. If you have a mirror hold your finger tips next to your face to find out how it looks.

- Before applying your new lipstick exfoliate the dry skin from your lips by brushing it gently with a soft bristled toothbrush or rub it with a paper towel. On well exfoliated lips, lipstick will slide along smoothly without caking.

- Coat lips first with a lip balm before applying your new lipstick, this will prevent the lipstick from feathering.

- For a longer lasting lip color, apply a coat of your new lipstick, and with a single-ply tissue, press and powder lightly over the tissue with a brush. This will set the color and avert feathering and running

- To create an illusion of fullness (or a pouty lip), daub a smidgen of gold or silver lip gloss at the center of the lower lip. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS

Black tie or formal events are not a big favorite by most men. But there are special occasions and events that a man needs to attend that require a more formal outfit and the usual business suit won’t do. These black tie events are so special that they even have a specific dress code.
Here is what you are expected to wear in a black tie event:

A tuxedo or dinner jacket
A tuxedo jacket or dinner jacket is definitely not the same as a suit coat. The most common and popular tuxedo or dinner jacket style is a single-breasted jacket without slits at the back of the jacket. An austere “shawl” lapel that extends in a simple band from the button and around the neck is the most typical black tie choice. Another lapel preference of some men for a black tie affair is the more stylish peaked lapels with upward points close to the collar. For black tie affairs, however, the name of the game is simple sophistication and the austere shawl lapel is more appropriate so as not to attract too much attention. Black is the typical color of a tuxedo or dinner jacket with either a grosgrain or satin lapel facings. Some men prefer midnight blue but like the peaked lapel, is also a more attention grabber color for a dinner jacket. White dinner jackets are also formal wear but not for a black tie affair.

Formal trousers
A tuxedo or dinner jacket should be teamed or paired off with formal trousers. The formal trousers should be made from the same fabric as the jacket with seams done in the same fabric as the facing of the lapel. A slim strip of fabric or a single braid is the most conventional and most common seam embellishment. Formal trousers do not have cuffs since it will get in the way of the seam decoration. Most formal trousers are designed with pleated fronts and sits high on the waist. It is meant to be worn with a cummerbund and should not be belted.

The Art of Hair Stenciling

Hair stencils are a great way to play around with your hairstyle without a long-term and irreversible change. It is an easy and very inexpensive way to experiment on your looks, particularly your hairstyles that will surely create a stir among your friends. Hair stenciling allows you to produce and apply non-permanent designs with the use of wash out colors, glitter and hair paints. You will appear hip, fashionable and modish when you attend a formal affair or a party or simply having fun with hair stencils.

Hair stencils work best for short hair but it can also be applied to just about any length of hair. The best way to do hair stencil is to do it yourself, not only can you express your individual style and creativity; it would also provide you fun and enjoyment. Doing it for the first time may not be that easy but as you experiment, in time you will become quite an expert and can be doing it in a breeze. Here are the steps on how to apply the art of hair stenciling:

•	Before applying the design on your hair make several patterns from hard paper or cardboard. Let your imagination work as you design but if you are a tyro try to stick to simple designs such as hearts, flowers, stars and other designs that are easy to apply. As you become more proficient then you can try the more evolved or intricate design. You can draw the design on the cardboard and cut it out.

•	Wash your hair with shampoo with your usual shampoo followed by a rinse out conditioner. Be sure to rinse both shampoo and rinse out conditioners completely out of your hair. To protect your hair from the hair paint, glitters and other substance needed to create your hair stencil design, apply a leave in conditioner

•	Dry your hair with a hair dryer completely. Hair stencils or hair tattoos work best on straight hair.

•	Ask a friend to help you plan out where you intend to put the stencil pattern, once you have decided as to the placement of the design, then apply the medium of your preference. Do it in a well ventilated room and keep your eyes closed and your face turned away from the spray.

•	If you prefer to use color, apply color using a spray-on color. Keep the spray about 6 to 8 inches away from the hair and then spray over the entire stencil.
